“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.” — Oscar Wilde

The New Moon kicks off at 14° Cancer on Friday, July 5th at 3:57 PM MST, launching us into a new lunar cycle. This Moon is at home in the sign of Cancer, and it is bringing intuitive action toward our self care. The energy of this New Moon is wildly feminine, restorative, and nourishing.

New Moons are a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, meaning they are aligned in the sky, occupying the same sign. Because of their close proximity, it creates a dark sky, initiating a great time to go inward, plant seeds, and set intentions for the new cycle ahead.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which is our deep unconscious, and our emotional world. Cancer also rules the 4th house, the domestic house; home, family, ancestry, our maternal instincts, and our foundations within our psyche.

Cancer is a cardinal-water sign; it initiates a new season and it comes with emotional depth. The symbol of Cancer is the crab, and I often think of a crab as having a hard shell, storing memories, and being protective of their internal world. Cancer energy is often reflected as sensitive, but when you consider it, the Moon changes zodiac signs every two days and a half days, moving quickly through each sign. Cancer is the only sign in the zodiac ruled by the Moon, the people with prominent Cancer placements, have the capacity to feel it all, and often do so in private. Their power comes from the depth in which they feel, their innate intuitive knowing, and their ability to nurture their subconscious.

This is such beautiful energy, asking us to slow down, so we can receive the intuitive taps and inspiration that will primarily set the stage to get to know ourselves on a deeper level. This plants the seeds for our long term goals. This energy is potent in planting seeds and getting to the root of our deep self, our heart, and lead us into our most authentic soul alignment.

Some important aspects making an impact during this New Moon, include a conjunction to Venus, also in Cancer. Venus (and the Moon) are the only feminine-ruled planets. Venus is associated to the way we love, find pleasure and our values. This aspect is giving us big SELF-LOVE energy. What an opportunity to look within yourself on a deeper level, and find new authentic ways to love you!

The New Moon is making a trine to Saturn in Pisces. Saturn just went retrograde a few days ago, and is offering the opportunity to review our boundaries; emotional, mental, spiritual boundaries. Saturn likes the long-game and is associated with endurance through discipline and responsibilities. So, this is a moment to mature within our psychological foundations, find compassion, and trust our inner wisdom. Consider restructuring boundaries to support your deepest self and spiritual path. How can you create more space for your self care to prepare yourself for what is coming?

Additionally the New Moon is making a sextile to Mars in Taurus, offering tangible ways to bring self-care and self-love into inspired, and intuitive action.

This new lunar cycle is sandwiched between two Capricorn Full Moons, which is rare, and spectacular. In a couple weeks, we will have our second Full Moon Capricorn at 29°, bringing a beautiful opportunity for clarity and conclusion on what began during the first Capricorn Full Moon, on June 21st.

You may be feeling the emotional waves, take it as an opportunity tap into your own heart space, and get to know yourself deeper, so you can flourish into your innate power!
We need you to shine brightly and authentically.

Questions to Ponder

What do you need to feel more emotionally nourished?
What is holding you back emotionally, from stepping into your power?
What gifts have come to fruition from challenges endured?
How can you establish a sense of home within your subconscious? What does that look like?
What are your long term goals and dreams that need nourishment now?
How can you expand into emotional realms?
