On Sunday August 4th at 4:13 AM, the Sun and Moon come together at 12° Leo for a powerful, and abundant New Moon.

Leo is a fixed, fire sign and is the only zodiac sign ruled by the Sun. Leo is bold, courageous, energetic, inspiring, romantic, playful, and creative. Leo rules the 5th house of creativity and children. Offering a great time to tap into your inner child, or play with kids. Make time for laugher and play, and remember not to take things too seriously. 

Leo is represented by the Lion; fierce, and brave. The lion is often referred to as the “King of the Jungle”, because of his strength, vitality and large presence. Leo at its highest frequency wants to initiate you as the King/Queen of your own kingdom, lead with your heart, and proudly stand in your power with the same vital essence as the Lion, confidently.

This dark Moon is supported by a positive sextile to both Mars and Jupiter in Gemini. Supporting new opportunities for creative endeavors, taking action toward our creative projects, and restoring our faith in who we truly are.  This aspect also indicates a great time to dive into learning and studying something you feel called to study. Listen to the whispers of heart and take a leap of faith!

This New Moon is making a trine to the North Node in Aries, reminding you that your inner fire is your guide you, stay focused. 

Leo energy is full and expressive, it can be big, loud, and buzzy, making it a good time to get out of our head, and into the body. Move the body intentionally, so you can drop into your heart space and let your soul shine. 

This New Moon falls within the the Lion’s gate portal which is on August 8th, making this time potent time for setting intentions, and doing some manifestation.

This year’s lion’s gate portal, 8/8/8,  is extra powerful, because we are also in an “8” year,  2024= 2+0+2+4=8. Lion’s gate is when the Sun aligns with the fixed star, Sirius and combines numerology. Because of the Sun’s vitality on this day, it a great day to honor the abundance from our harvests, give thanks, and do some manifestation. 

Right after the New Moon, Mercury will station retrograde in the sign of Virgo and eventually move back into Leo. When Mercury is retrograde, it appears to us here on Earth that he is going backwards in the sky.  Mercury is the messenger, and goes retrograde ~four times every year. Retrogrades are a time to review, reawaken, realign, and retreat, specifically around matters of communication and your way of thinking. 

The Leo New Moon wants to remind you to be the leader of your kingdom, and to conduct from your heart-center. The connection to your heart is your inner compass aligning you with your soul’s journey.
