Threshold Circle

A complimentary monthly gathering for openhearted conversations about aging, caregiving, grief, mortality, and what it means to live well.

Sunday, October 11 | 9:00–10:30 AM
at Kaya Holistic
6522 N 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85016

FREE gathering. Please register in advance to reserve your spot.

There are few experiences more universal than caring for someone we love, grieving a loss, growing older, or facing our own mortality—yet these are conversations our culture often avoids until we have no choice but to have them.

Threshold Circle is a welcoming community gathering where we gently pull back the curtain on these deeply human experiences. Together, we create space for curiosity instead of fear, connection instead of isolation, and thoughtful conversation instead of silence.

Whether you’re currently caring for a loved one, navigating the changing health of a parent, living with loss, planning ahead, working in a helping profession, or simply longing to explore these conversations before they’re needed, you are warmly welcome.

This month, we’re honored to welcome AmarAtma Singh Khalsa, author of The Tender Art of Grieving, as our special guest. AmarAtma will join us for the full Threshold Circle, bringing his compassionate perspective on grief, loss, and the ways we can learn to live alongside what hurts.

Hosted by Cathleen Mitchell of Kaya Holistic and Maggie McVeigh of Magnolia Helps, each gathering offers a compassionate space to slow down, share stories, ask questions, listen deeply, and learn from one another.

Together, we’ll explore topics such as:

  • The caregiving journey—finding support while honoring both your loved one and yourself.
  • Aging with dignity, curiosity, and compassion.
  • Grief, loss, and the many forms they take throughout our lives.
  • End-of-life planning, legacy, and creating peace of mind.
  • Gentle somatic practices, mindfulness, and restorative tools to support the nervous system.
  • How embracing conversations about mortality can deepen gratitude, presence, and the way we choose to live today.

There is no expectation to share. You are welcome to come with stories, questions, quiet reflection, or simply a willingness to listen. Every voice is honored, and every experience belongs.

We’ll gather in a warm, welcoming space with herbal tea and light seasonal treats as we cultivate a community where life’s most meaningful transitions can be met with compassion, wisdom, and connection.

“The conversations we avoid are often the ones that bring us closest together.”

Space is intentionally limited to nurture meaningful conversation and genuine connection.

Special Guest: AmarAtma Singh Khalsa

Author of The Tender Art of Grieving
Grief Counselor • Chaplain • Harvard Divinity MRPL ’26

AmarAtma Singh Khalsa is a compassionate guide for living with loss. A grief counselor and chaplain, AmarAtma brings an embodied and deeply human approach to grief, creating space for people to move through loss without rushing, fixing, or bypassing what they are experiencing.

His new book, The Tender Art of Grieving, asks a gentle but powerful question:

What if grief is something you can work with—not something you have to get over?

Whether we are grieving a death, an illness, a relationship, a dream, or a major life transition, grief asks us to slow down and meet ourselves where we are. The Tender Art of Grieving offers a compassionate invitation to make space for that experience and discover our own pace for healing.

AmarAtma will be with us for the Threshold Circle from 9:00–10:30 AM, sharing his presence and perspective as part of our conversation.

Stay for the Book Reading & Signing
